The Rules
This year I'm planning on writing a new worship song every week. The main reason I'm doing this is to work on my songwriting chops. One hopeful side benefit would be to have songs that the church I serve (The Church at Whistling Pines) can sing and connect to God through. There are a few rules (originally documented here):
- Songs must have at least 2 verses and a chorus and should typically have a bridge of some sort.
- Songs should have a recorded version published to this blog SoundCloud and tagged #52Worship sometime within the week (my weeks starts on Monday).
- I can work on songs in advance, but I can't go back and play catch-up.
- I’m allowed to collaborate with other songwriters, but they have to know it (no fair poaching someone’s poetry).
- I'm only allowed to use my iPhone and the headphones it came with for recording equipment. No wasted time fiddling with complicated software or hardware these are just demos.
